Variants
Light, dark and the two paper variants.
Every port ships the same four variants.
| Variant | Surface | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
light | Neutral light | You want the plainest light theme. |
dark | Neutral dark | You want the plainest dark theme. |
light-paper | Warm off-white, #f4f2ec | You read for long stretches in daylight. |
dark-paper | Soft near-black, #111113 | You want a dark page that is less stark. |
What paper changes
Paper changes the surfaces and the mono inks. It keeps the chromatic coordinates of the standard variant, so green, blue and orange stay where they were. It does not warm every color.
Paper is a surface treatment. It is not a claim of less eye strain.
Following the system
Most editors can switch between a light and a dark variant by themselves. Each port page shows the setting. The pairing used throughout is light-paper by day and dark-paper by night.
